Celebrate Japanese and Japanese-American culture at Seattle Center’s weekend-long Cherry Blossom Festival in April. The tradition of celebrating the cherry blossom festival in Seattle began over 40 years ago, when Japanese Prime Minister Takeo Miki gifted over 1,000 cherry trees to the city in commemoration of the nation’s bicentennial. Today, the event features origami stations, tea ceremonies, martial arts performances, and koto and taiko music. For more information, visit the Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival website.
