Beginning in the shadows of the Space Needle, the Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon draw tens of thousands of runners each year. The course loops around the city, offering runners vast lake and mountain views. From Seattle Center to charming old urban neighborhoods, along Lake Washington and its labyrinths of houseboats, the course offers a wide variety of backdrops, sure to please and distract those racers in it for the long haul. While Seattle’s rolling hills and unpredictable weather can deter even the most intrepid runners, the race is known for its lively spectators and reliable water stations, making the longest stretches of road fly by.
